#211Helps a family ADHD child in Dutchess County

04/2/2017 2:10 pm

During tax season, a woman called into United Way's Hudson Valley Region 2-1-1 to schedule her free tax appointment with the Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition in Dutchess County.

While waiting on hold, she listened to information regarding other services that 2-1-1 provides. After she scheduled her tax appointment, she then asked the 2-1-1 call specialist if she would mind assisting her with something else.

She went on to explain that her grandson has ADHD and has some behavioral issues. She also mentioned that he is a very angry child and while her daughter has an appointment with a therapist lined up, it won’t be for another few months and the family is looking for other alternatives.

The call specialist was able to locate several outpatient youth counseling programs and provided them to her.

The caller told the call specialist “I am so happy I was on hold and learned that you could help me with referrals for my grandson.”

Thanks to your support of United Way, 2-1-1 is there 24 hours, 365 days a year to provide help and hope to people like this caller.

Thank you.
