Every year in commemoration of the anniversary of 9/11, United Way coordinates projects where volunteers dedicate their time for 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance.
On the 16th anniversary of 9/11, United Way coordinated four volunteer projects:
· United Way Community Impact Council members at HONORehg’s Honor our Veterans Project in Middletown and painted a room devoted to veterans.
· A volunteer team from Kohl’s joined Community Impact Council members to help paint a residence for Abilities First in Poughkeepsie.
· United Way Loaned Executives volunteered at Dutchess Outreach’s Community Garden in Poughkeepsie helping weed, compost, and harvest in support the Poughkeepsie Fresh Mobile Market.
· Volunteer teams from Ball Corp, UNFI, UPS and Walden Savings Bank volunteered at the American Red Cross in Middletown, helping to sort and organize donations, and prepare disaster kits.
