United Way's Day of Sharing program provides area nonprofits, schools and faith-based organizations a chance to "shop" for necessities for their clients - for free. One Friday every quarter, United Way opens it's basement doors at 10am so that our neighbors will have bedding, household and kitchen items, men's and women's clothes as well as items for infants and children at no cost. This Day was created to help support our fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community.
Please feel free to browse our inventory and take items that will assist your organization in achieving its mission. Please note, goods will be given away on a first come, first serve basis. As our Gift-In-Kind Program grows in reach, the demand increases as well. Please be considerate of other agencies when browsing for items.
While this invitation is extended to all nonprofit agencies, faith-based organizations and schools serving residents of Dutchess and Orange counties without charge, we request each group receiving in-kind donations complete and return the Gift-In-Kind Policies and Procedures document.
To ensure a positive experience for all, we ask that you adhere to our Day of Sharing policies:
- Attendees must park in a legitimate parking spot in the parking lot or on Market Street.
- All that attend must enter through the back entrance. Those that come through the front will be asked to wait in the back parking lot.
- To ensure equal distribution of goods, we ask that you send up to two representatives per program.
Our newly expanded Louis Greenspan Children's Corner is now open! The Louis Greenspan Children's Corner is an exciting and very needed addition to our quarterly Day of Sharing. This one room contains basic necessities, which sometimes are beyond the reach for parents in our region. These items are ones that no child should go without, but in times of financial crisis they can become luxuries.
The room is stocked with:
- diapers and hygiene items
- new and gently used infant, toddler, and children's clothes
- children's shoes and socks
- toys and other items to help your clients; parents who are struggling to provide for their family
Please share this information with your network of nonprofits, faith-based organizations and schools serving the residents of Dutchess & Orange Counties.
We look forward to seeing you at the next United Way Day of Sharing on September 7th from 10am to 12noon!
