Thanks to your support, since March 12th we have helped 46,340 of our neighbors and friends during this crisis, we’ve helped provide food for 31,110 struggling individuals and families in Dutchess and Orange Counties since March 12th.

We’ve helped 2,432 students:

Food for 2,000 elementary school students and their families.

Food for 375 struggling single parents who are college students.

Prevented evictions for families of 12 college students.

Purchased 15 Chromebooks

Provided basic school supplies for 30 students so they could continue distance learning

Provided hygiene items for 258 elementary school students in care packages.

We’ve purchased PPE for 600 frontline workers at hospitals, nursing homes, community health centers, hospice and 200 masks for homeless and at-risk community members.
We’ve provided critical disinfectant, cleaning supplies and hygiene items for 1,356 children and adults at daycare centers, homeless shelters, food pantries and homes.

Hygiene items like toilet paper, lysol, laundry detergent, touchless thermometers and more to 32 daycare centers serving essential frontline workers for 775 children.

Toilet paper and cleaning supplies including lysol to 1 domestic violence shelter serving 100 survivors of domestic violence.

Cleaning supplies and hygiene items for 1 homeless shelter serving 100 in a high risk COVID-19 area.

For the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, we provided 60 containers of Lysol wipes so they could sterilize their work environment for 50 staff and volunteers

Cleaning supplies for 1 food pantry with community distribution of critical items to 60 families.

Helped another 121 single parents with diapers, cleaning supplies, soap, shampoo and toothpaste.

Cleaning supplies to 1 hospital to help sterilize areas at risk to help 100 frontline healthcare workers.

Provided 50 rural families with limited transportation hard-to-find items like toilet paper and cleaning wipes

Responding to individual needs, we’ve helped 53 local families:

We provided 2 car seats and infant care essentials to 2 single parents

We kept 1 family safe and the lights on

We provided 50 Veterans and their families access to prescriptions and essential hygiene items

Every week we’re saying thank you from all of you to 491 frontline workers, including hospital staff in Emergency Rooms, Critical Care floors, Diagnostic and Respiratory Care Units, EMS workers, police officers, community health staff and day care workers.

These 491 frontline workers represent the 1000s that have put their lives on the line in the war against COVID-19 at 4 hospitals, 3 city police departments, 1 community health center, 2 EMS centers and 1 day care center for children of first responders.

United Way’s free confidential 24/7 2-1-1 Helpline has received 9,992 COVID-19 related calls over the past 9 weeks.
