Orange County residents who need help paying their home heating expenses but do not qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) have a deadline of March 22 to file their Orange County Fuel Fund applications.
Residents can apply online for a one-time Orange County Fuel Fund grant for help to pay all types of home heating including kerosene, propane, oil, pellets, wood and electric heat.Grant amounts vary depending upon the type of heating fuel that is the primary source of heat used by the household. The grants will be paid, upon approval, directly to the resident’s heating provider.
To review income guidelines, go to www.ocfuelfund.org. Income guidelines for both HEAP and the Fuel Fund are listed. If you fall within the income guidelines for HEAP, you must contact HEAP by calling 845-291-2002. Consumers have until March 15 to apply for HEAP.
To see if you qualify for the Fuel Fund, call United Way at 845-457-4774 ext. 3112. Applications require documentation for all members of the household. Once qualification is confirmed, you will be asked to submit your application along with the required documentation.
Residents can also download the application form from the Fuel Fund website, print it out and mail it to United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, 30 Scott’s Corners Dr., Suite 102, Montgomery, NY 12549, Attention: Orange County Fuel Fund. Or fax the completed form to 845-457-4702.
