John Rath, TD Bank senior vice president and veteran community leader, has been named chair of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s 2012 Workplace Campaign.
The annual Workplace Campaign will run from September through December 2012. To date, more than $2.2 million was raised in the 2011 campaign. The funds raised during the Workplace Campaign enable United Way to bring the community together in collaboration to solve major quality of life issues that provide opportunities for all to live successfully.
Rath will lead a core group of volunteers on his Leadership Team, in coordination with Loaned Executives from companies and nonprofits who promote the campaign, and 300 employee campaign managers in workplaces throughout Dutchess and Orange Counties who encourage pledges and donations.
Rath, who has been at TD Bank since 1998, has been active in nonprofit and community organizations for many years. He currently is chairman of Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress and serves as a member of Health Quest Health System’s Quality and Patient Satisfaction Committee and the boards of Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp., NY BioHud Valley, Bardavon 1869 Opera House and SUNY Orange Foundation. In addition, he is working on the Vassar Brothers Medical Center’s Capital Campaign for its new Ambulatory Surgery Center. He also is a current member and former chairman for 10 years of the Advisory Board for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, as well as co-chairman of their Capital Campaign.
His community leadership has extended to many nonprofit organizations including serving as Board of Trustees chairman for Vassar Brothers Medical Center and as a member of its Executive Board; and, 1999 Chairman of United Way Day of Caring. He also has been involved in numerous community organizations as a member of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corp.’s External Marketing Committee; chairman and board member of the Orange County Private Industry Council; a member of the Orange County Workforce Development Task Force; and, member of the Orange County Capital Development Corp.
