AARP Tax-Aide is seeking volunteer to fill key position in organization

AARP Tax-Aide, a national volunteer organization that provides free income tax preparation to low-to-middle income families, is seeking help from to fill a key volunteer position that will oversee administrative activity to support the organization’s Eastern New York region.

“Our free tax preparation program serves over 30,000 clients in our region, thanks to the help of nearly 800 volunteers. The Administrative Specialist position is important in helping our state management team to oversee this activity,”  said Ed Hogarty, AARP Tax-Aide New York State Coordinator.

The volunteer position of Administrative Specialist (ADS) would be a member of the State Management Team for AARP Tax-Aide and be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of all administrative procedures, and assist District Coordinators with their administrative responsibilities. Applicants for the ADS position should be organized, detail-oriented, and compuer literate. No knowledge of tax preparation is required, and extensive training will be provided.

There are three broad areas of responsibility:

·         Training the District Coordinators (DC) in the policies and procedures for administration of AARP Tax-Aide.

·         Maintaining records required for the requirements of the program.

·         Providing administrative assistance to leaders and volunteers as needed.
