Jay and Jack

Make a difference today

Jay loves Fridays during school as he always walks home from school with food. This wasn’t always the case. Before the Backpack program started, many were met by an empty fridge.

“My brother Jack had already been receiving food through the Backpack program in his elementary school, but didn’t like to share. I know it was because he was hungry,” Jay said.

This year, both boys were smiling on Fridays as the middle schoolers receive food too! Their mom Shaniquah was relieved to know both of them would have something to eat – even on the tough weekends before she received her paycheck.

Volunteers needed for Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition Free Tax Preparation

For 15 years, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has worked with the Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition to provide free tax preparation services for qualified residents of Dutchess, Orange and Putnam counties. This annual service provides individuals, seniors and low-to-moderate income families the chance to file their taxes free of charge (and stress). The success and impact of this program can only be continued with assistance from generous volunteers.
