United Way extends its thanks to the community for uniting to support our Newburgh neighbors after May’s tornado.

“When we shared the first request to help our Newburgh neighbors after May 15thtornado, we knew our community would be supportive, but the care and compassion that we saw from everyone truly was overwhelming,” said Jeannie Montano, President & CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region “Immediately after we circulated an email and shared the request on social media, people contacted us with monetary and merchandise donations.


Update: Supply Drive continues; special benefit on 5/23

“The outpouring of support for our Newburgh neighbors is overwhelming,” said Jeannie Montano, President & CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region “Since Thursday, when we put out the first call for help, four businesses stepped up to serve as additional drop off locations for the supply drive (Lori Buhagiar Allstate Office, Newburgh Brewing Company, Rhinebeck Bank and Ulster Savings Bank). In addition, the community asked us to do some of the shopping for them. On Thursday, United Way delivered food to two locations in Newburgh (Blacc Vanilla and the Liberty Street BBQ).


Free training for nonprofit professionals and key volunteers on June 14th

On Thursday, June 14th, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region will offer a free training for nonprofit professionals and key organization volunteers, including board members: “Strategies to Inspire Volunteers, Interns & Staff for Maximum Success” will be held from 8:30am to 2:15pm at Dutchess Community College. Through two panel discussions and three workshop presentations, participants will learn how to find, inspire and retain volunteers and interns to maximize their organization’s success.


United Way’s 80th Anniversary Celebration concluded with spectacular event with more than 450 community leaders in attendance raising over $140,000!

On Wednesday, April 25th, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region threw itself a birthday party and more than 450 joined in the celebration! For the fourth year, United Way has presented a dinner event at the conclusion of its annual workplace campaign that allows supporters, business and nonprofit executives to meet, mingle and learn about more about the work of United Way. 


Application for Funding: Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Program - Phase 35

Orange County has been chosen to receive $140,497.00 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and United Way Worldwide.
