Community Conversations

Every year, United Way holds one or two Community Conversations that will help inform the focus of United Way's future programs and funding. All stakeholders are invited to attend and join the discussion, sharing their priorities.

Past conversation topics have included substance abuse prevention, support for local veterans, and early education.

Workshops & Seminars

In partnership with organizations and businesses, United Way offers free workshops and seminars for the community.

In 2018, United Way has partnered with Rhinebeck Bank to provide a series of Financial Literacy Workshops & Seminars.

The first was held in April and offered participants tips to prevent identity theft and avoid scams.

The second, in June, gave key information to prepare participants to become first time homebuyers.

Additional workshops are planned for the fall.

Days of Caring

United Way's Days of Caring provide opportunities for companies, organizations and individuals to join together and make a difference in their community with volunteer projects to help our community partners expand their capacity and reach.

Last year, 1,673 individuals volunteered to help their neighbors, with a calculated value of $835,402 for their donated time. That's an incredible amount of change that United Way helps bring about.

United Way extends its thanks to the community for uniting to support our Newburgh neighbors after May’s tornado.

“When we shared the first request to help our Newburgh neighbors after May 15thtornado, we knew our community would be supportive, but the care and compassion that we saw from everyone truly was overwhelming,” said Jeannie Montano, President & CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region “Immediately after we circulated an email and shared the request on social media, people contacted us with monetary and merchandise donations.
