Supply drive for Texas residents affected by Hurricane Harvey. Donations will be transported to Texas through the generosity of UPS Freight Montgomery.

United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is coordinating an urgent supply drive – now through Thursday, September 7th – for items of need for residents of Texas, directly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Working with two Texas-based organizations, Texas Diaper Bank and Feeding Texas (to be distributed by the Houston Food Bank), United Way will collect donations at its offices in Poughkeepsie (75 Market Street) and in Newburgh (123 Grand Street).

Nonprofit professionals are invited to attend United Way free training, “A Grant Writer’s ToolBox,” on June 21st

On Wednesday, June 21st, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region will offer a free training for nonprofit professionals serving Dutchess and Orange counties that features two engaging hands-on workshops. “A Grant Writer’s ToolBox” will be held from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Marist College and will provide key tools to successfully research funding and to measure an organization's success. As space is limited, preregistration is requested.

AARP Tax-Aide is seeking volunteer to fill key position in organization

AARP Tax-Aide, a national volunteer organization that provides free income tax preparation to low-to-middle income families, is seeking help from to fill a key volunteer position that will oversee administrative activity to support the organization’s Eastern New York region.

“Our free tax preparation program serves over 30,000 clients in our region, thanks to the help of nearly 800 volunteers. The Administrative Specialist position is important in helping our state management team to oversee this activity,”  said Ed Hogarty, AARP Tax-Aide New York State Coordinator.

Application for Funding: Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Program - Phase 34

Orange County has been chosen to receive $141,851.00 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and United Way Worldwide.
