United Way honors Steven E. Howell as well as key volunteers and organizations at “Celebration of Service Event: A CommUNITY United” Award Dinner on April 19th

Volunteer Spotlight: Ed Broderick

Although he will admit it only seems like 6 years ago, it was in fact 26 years ago that Ed Broderick, then an IBM employee, first experienced the United Way Loaned Executive program. Fast forward to 2016 and Ed Broderick is now retired and once again a Loaned Executive. Ed says “The need was great then and we have been making strides to better our community by working together. But there is still more work to be done.”


Read Across America Day 2017

On Thursday, March 2nd, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and six nonprofit partner organizations joined together at nine locations and read to more than 750 students in celebration of the 20th anniversary of National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Day of Sharing on March 3rd helps provide basic necessities for local organizations serving clients-in-need

Every three months, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region opens up its doors to representatives of area nonprofits, churches, and schools as part of its Day of Sharing Program. Each Day of Sharing is held at the Poughkeepsie United Way office (75 Market Street) to help these organizations meet their client’s basic needs through donations from retailers including Calvin Klein, Bed Bath & Beyond, Izod, and Van Heusen.


United Way hosts health & wellness Community Listening Session for Poughkeepsie residents on March 4th

Are you a low-income resident of the City of Poughkeepsie facing health and wellness issues? If so, we want to hear from you. United Way of Dutchess-Orange Region will be hosting a community listening session on Saturday, March 4th, from 9:30am to 12:00pm at The New Hope Center (104 Hudson Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).


Application for Funding: Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Program - Phase 34

Orange County has been chosen to receive $141,851.00 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and United Way Worldwide.
