United Way hosts health & wellness Community Listening Session for Poughkeepsie residents on March 4th

Are you a low-income resident of the City of Poughkeepsie facing health and wellness issues? If so, we want to hear from you. United Way of Dutchess-Orange Region will be hosting a community listening session on Saturday, March 4th, from 9:30am to 12:00pm at The New Hope Center (104 Hudson Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).

Application for Funding: Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Program - Phase 34

Orange County has been chosen to receive $141,851.00 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and United Way Worldwide.

Building Hope: EITC Awareness Day

When you finally land that job you’ve been hoping for, you don’t let anything get in your way—not even being homeless. Things had finally turned around for Jesse and he was grateful to be working at a production warehouse, but he still wasn’t able to afford an apartment. But when Jesse had his taxes prepared at United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site, he found out that he’d be getting the Earned Income Tax Credit.

More than 180 participants spent Saturday discussing the needs of the City of Newburgh at the Newburgh Anti-Poverty Task Force Community Listening Session sponsored by United Way

More than 180 participants, who are struggling to make ends, chose to spend their Saturday discussing the needs of their community and how to improve the City of Newburgh, both for them and their families. The Community Listening Session, “Speak to Change,” sponsored by the Newburgh Anti-Poverty Task Force and United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, was held at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center.
