September 11, 2021, is the 20th anniversary of a tragic day in our nation’s history. Every September 11, we pay tribute to those killed and injured, the first responders, and countless others who served to defend our freedom through a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
This year your volunteer efforts are needed more than ever. United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is honoring 9/11 Remembrance Day throughout the month, offering opportunities for more individuals to volunteer in a healthy and meaningful way during this important time. Our group volunteer events are designed with safety in mind and we follow the health protocols set in place by each host.
We are honored to bring people together in Dutchess and Orange Counties to join the fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community.
We are looking for volunteers for the following upcoming opportunities:
September 10th - Zoom Letter Writing Campaign, 9:30-10:30, virtual
Join us for a letter writing party as we send notes of encouragement to socially isolated seniors in our community! We will also play games & give away prizes. See you soon!
September 13th - Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, 2:30pm-4:30pm, Cornwall-on-Hudson
We invite you to join our efforts in sorting food items at the Food Bank so they can be well-distributed into the community. Your efforts will help low-income families stretch their limited budgets and eat better.
September 22nd - Poughkeepsie Farm Project, 3pm - 6pm, Poughkeepsie
The Poughkeepsie Farm Project grows food for over 475 families and donates thousands of pounds of food to shelters and emergency food providers. Join us at the Food Project this autumn for an afternoon of garden work and help get more healthy, clean food into our community.
