Community Champion: John F. Rath, III

John F. Rath has worked in banking since 1980. First Senior Vice President and Group Manager for Lakeland Bank since March 2015 responsible for Middle Market and C&I lending, including Asset Based Lending and Equipment Finance. He previously was employed by TD Bank for over 16 years as Senior Vice President and Group Manager responsible for Middle Market, Commercial and Small Business lending activities in the Lower Hudson Valley. Prior to then he was with The Bank of New York for 18 years.

Past Chairman and current Board member for Hudson Valley  Pattern for Progress, Chairman of Pattern's 2015 successful 50th Anniversary $1 million fund raising campaign, Board and Executive member of Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties; Board Member and Vice Chair of SUNY Orange Foundation, Member of the Board of the Bardavon 1869 Opera House; current Member and former Chairman for ten years of the Advisory Board for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, as well as Co-Chairman of their previously successful Capital Campaign.

Prior involvements include Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Vassar   Brothers Medical Center; member of the Executive Board, Chair of the Performance Improvement Committee, member Strategic and Business Planning Committees, Finance Committee; Member Health Quest System Board and HQ Patient Satisfaction and Quality Committee; Prior Board Member of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp and NY BioHud Valley. Member of the successful $16 million Vassar Bros Medical Center Capital Campaign for an Ambulatory Surgery Center completed in 2012; Chairman of the United Way of Dutchess and Orange 2012 Employee Giving Campaign. Past Treasurer, Trustee and Elder for Mid-Hudson Christian Church  in Wallkill, NY and Goodwill Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, NY; the Dutchess County Economic    Development Corporation External Marketing Committee; organized and  headed His Love Unveiled Food Pantry in Wallkill, NY; Chairman and  Board member of the Orange County Private Industry Council; Member of  the Orange County Capital Development Corp., 1999 Chairman of United  Way Day of Caring, Member of Congresswoman Sue Kelly's Financial Services Committee Advisory Board, Little League coach for Wallkill Area Little League; served on as Newburgh Revitalization, Education and the Orange Open Committees for the Orange County Chamber; Stewart-Newburgh Economic Development Zone Task Force; member of the Orange County Workforce Development Task Force; former member of Hudson Valley Banker's Association.

Education:

Graduated from Washingtonville Senior High School in 1976. Attended Dutchess Community College in 1986.

Personal:

Lives in Newburgh, New York. John and his wife Deborah have six children and four grandchildren. He enjoys running, hiking, reading concerts and Broadway shows.
