Each year there are holidays and reminders for people to show support to the country’s brave troops. Every Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day, Americans patriotically celebrate and cheer for those who have fought for us and for our country. Unfortunately, life after service often can be quite difficult for veterans. According to research conducted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, it is estimated that roughly 40,056 veterans are homeless on any given day. They are also at risk of developing substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, and poverty due to their lack of resources after discharge. Help United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region assist our local veterans by donating to the Change for Veterans drive. One hundred percent of donations will go toward programs to provide legal services and help prevent homelessness for our local veterans. Read more.
Thank you for supporting our local veterans through United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. Every penny counts!
