United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region builds a stronger, healthier community by raising funds, developing resources and forging partnerships that make a measurable difference in people's lives.
How do donations help Valley Central students, families and staff?
·You fund the Teen Dating Violence Prevention Programfrom Safe Homes, which helps teensdevelop the skills to form healthy relationships with a focus on reducing instances of bullying and intimate partner violence.
·You support Valley Central girls and young female teens through Girls on the Run, a program that transforms girls’ lives by increasing self confidence, developing healthy relationships and helping them feel good about themselves.
·You help reduce at-risk behaviors including substance, alcohol and drug abuse by helping children facing adversity get matched with caring adults in a One-to-One Mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
·You keep the 2-1-1 helpline running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Last year United Way's 211 Helpline got over 18,000 calls from the local community! They got over 500 callsfrom the Valley Central District area specifically! Valley Central needs this resource!
·Your donations make sure children have the basic necessities – United Way’s new Children's Cornerincludes clothing, sneakers, socks, school supplies, soaps and picture books up to chapter books. These are available for teachers to come take for their classrooms and their students for free!
The Valley Central family has very generously given to the United Way for many years to help them achieve their goals. We are hoping you will continue the tradition of giving and once again support United Way. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Stacy Talarico (18127).
