Holiday Helping Hand Grant Application
Every year, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and The Poughkeepsie Journal partner to raise funds for holiday help in Dutchess County. Funds are distributed to non-profit programs that need help giving their clients food, clothing, help with heating costs, and presents for their families.
Emergency Food & Shelter Program Application
A Local Board made up of representatives from United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, American Red Cross – Orange/Sullivan, Catholic Charities, Church of the Good Shepherd, Community Members, Emergency Housing Group, Inc., Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen, Jewish Family Service of Orange County, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and Salvation Army determines how funds awarded to Orange County will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive any funds available under this program.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, governmental or private voluntary organizations chosen to receive funds must:
have the capability to provide emergency food and/or shelter services year round, be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, have an accounting system, and will pay all vendors with the organization’s check, store/vendor issued credit card, or organization’s debit card, practice non-discrimination, have a voluntary board if a private, not-for-profit, not be debarred or suspended from receiving Federal funds. Qualifying organizations are urged to apply.
