19 Volunteers Join United Way’s 2012 Annual Workplace Campaign Leadership Team

Nineteen volunteers who are executives in a wide range of organizations have joined United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s 2012 Workplace Campaign Leadership Team.

The volunteer team will be led by Campaign Chair John Rath, TD Bank senior vice president and veteran community leader, and Vice Chair Charles A. Freni Jr., senior vice president of Customer Service, CH Energy Group Inc.

Team members will work to develop strategy and drive the annual Workplace Campaign that will raise funds in more than 300 organizations’ in Dutchess and Orange Counties from September through December 2012. Funds raised during the campaign enable United Way to bring the community together in collaboration to solve major quality of life issues in the three key areas of Education, Income and Health and to provide opportunities for all to live successfully.

Freni’s community activities include currently serving as chair of the Health Quest–Vassar Brothers Medical Center Affiliate Board, and on the board of The Hudson Renewable Energy Institute, the grant committee of the Community Foundation and the Working Green Committee of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. He also has served on the boards of the Catharine Street Community Center’s and Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, and as the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk New Teams chair.

“In a time when so many challenges beset our community, United Way provides all of us with an opportunity through the Workplace Campaign to help those in need to obtain food, prepare their children for school, gain financial stability and shelter persons from abuse,” said Campaign Chair Rath.

I am always encouraged by the generosity of our region’s donors who through the annual Dutchess and Orange County United Way campaign help us raise the funds that can be allocated to programs where they will have the most impact and best outcomes.
