Charles Freni, a Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation Senior Vice President and veteran community leader, has been named chair of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s 2013 Workplace Campaign.
The annual workplace campaign initiative, which kicks off in September, raises funds for United Way’s Community Fund that addresses critical community needs in the areas of education, income, health, and crisis intervention.
Freni, who served as vice chair of last year’s campaign, will lead a core group of volunteer community leaders from companies and nonprofits who will promote the campaign in workplaces throughout Dutchess and Orange Counties encouraging pledges and donations.
“United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region plays a vital role in bringing our community together to help support and address essential issues and needs, and it is an honor and pleasure to be given the opportunity to lead its 2013 Annual Campaign,” said Freni. “As the campaign Chair, I’m excited about engaging the community and gaining their support to make a measureable difference in our community.”
At Central Hudson, Freni is responsible for day-to-day operations of the corporation’s customer services organization, which includes gas and electric transmission and distribution operations and all customer services activities. He was previously the vice president of engineering and environmental affairs for the company.
Freni’s current community involvement includes serving as Heath Quest’s Affiliate Board chairman. He also previously served on the Boards of the Catharine Street Community Center, Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, and the Area Fund of Dutchess County.
