On Saturday, June 29th from 10am to 1pm, teams of 20 people will be competing in the ultimate tug of war – the first annual Pull the Plane at New York Stewart International Aiport. Presented by United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, this “FUNdraiser” not only is a super team building, family-friendly event, but also supports United Way’s work in our local community. Signing up is easy, just go www.uwdor.org/pulltheplaneto register (the $20 registration fee counts toward the $200 fundraising goal).
Ages 15 and up can participate, so grab your family, your co-workers, friends and create a team today. If you don’t have 20 people, no worries, as teams of 10 can be paired up (it does take at least 20 people to pull the plane). Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraiser and top team fundraiser, as well as for the team that pulls the FedEx Express Boeing 757 the fastest 12 feet along a runway. Make sure to have your cheering squad there to watch as well. Each participant will receive a limited edition event tee, food ticket and a goodie bag. There will be food trucks, games and entertainment too. K104 will be broadcasting live from Pull the Plane as one of the media sponsors.
“This is a brand new event for us and it will be the only one in our geographic area,” explained Jeannie Montano, President & CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. “We really wanted to do something different that would engage our community and offer a competition that was both fun and challenging. Pull the Plane is an event we hope to present annually and it wlll allow us to raise needed funds for our work in the community – in a fun and different way. We’re so grateful that FedEx Express is supporting this event and providing the Boeing 757 and that Port Authority of New York is providing the location at New York Stewart International Airport.”
Anyone can sign up to participate in Pull the Plane, just go to www.uwdor.org/pulltheplane to register. United Way will be putting together teams for individuals. You can select individual registration to be placed on a team, create your own team, or register for a specific team. The only requirement at sign up is the $20 registration fee and your agreement to raise $200 through a crowdfunded fundraiser. Each registrant will receive a personal fundraising page that can be shared out over social media, a participant toolkit that provides great information about the event - including how to fundraise successfully, and great fundraising incentive gifts.
