March 10 Is Deadline for Dutchess and Orange Nonprofits to Apply for United Way Grants

POUGHKEEPSIE & MONTGOMERY – Applications for grants to support community members through direct client assistance programs from July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015 are now being accepted by United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on March 10.


United Way is seeking applications for existing and new programs that align with specific funding priorities in the areas of Education, Income, Health, Crisis Intervention and Women’s Leadership.  


In their application, nonprofits must clearly demonstrate how the requested funds will be used to meet community needs.


Grants are based on a one to three-year funding cycle subject to annual review and funding availability. Any Dutchess or Orange County 501(c)3 non-profit is eligible to submit an application.  Collaborations with other non-profits and/or other organizations and businesses are strongly encouraged.


United Way, business and community volunteers, along with members of its Community Impact Committee and supporting councils, will score applications based on the documented community need; impact of resources; program design and implementation including collaboration; and, the organization’s ability to efficiently and effectively utilize resources.


All applications must be must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 10. They must be completed online through the United Way e-granting platform. Applications and the platform can be accessed at www.uwdor.org. No paper applications or supplemental documents will be accepted.

United Way will announce funding decisions in early May 2014.
