United Way Appoints Jeannie Montano as New President

The Board of Directors of the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region announced today the appointment of Jeannie Montano as its next President and Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Montano will be introduced to the community at United Way's Celebration of Service Awards dinner at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor on Thursday, March 12, 2015. She will officially assume her duties on March 18.

Ms. Montano has had a long history of successful leadership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, where she served as Executive Director of the Connecticut Chapter, as Northeast Division Director and as Executive Director of the Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter. In those roles, she was responsible for overall leadership, management and fundraising, including budgets as large as $35 million and staffs as large as 150 employees.

Steven Howell, United Way Chairman and a partner at Vanacore, DeBenedictus, DiGovanni and Weddell said, “We are extremely pleased to have attracted someone of Jeannie’s caliber to lead our United Way. We conducted an extensive search, and we’ve found someone with the professional experience and personal qualities we need in our next President.”

Jeannie Montano said, “I’m very excited about the opportunity to lead the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. I’m a true believer in United Way’s mission and I look forward to leading this organization as it helps for forge community solutions together with our many partners.”

Lant, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer and retired CEO of Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corp. said, "I look forward to handing the reins to Jeannie, and I'm confident that our United Way will be in good hands. She's an engaging leader and will be an asset both to United Way and our entire community."

The “Celebration of Service” Awards event will begin at 5:30pm with a cocktail reception and nonprofit showcase, featuring representatives from Orange and Dutchess nonprofit organizations. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow at 6:30pm and concludes at 8:30pm. The event will be held at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor.
