Juella Guadalupe, a veteran volunteer, remarks on her Day of Action service, “After completing today’s project I feel very fulfilled and happy to be outside on a gorgeous day!” Juella is an Administrative Coordinator at Ball Corporation and manages the Community Ambassador volunteer program for Ball’s facility in Wallkill.
Juella has coordinated various volunteer projects within the community in previous years. Just this year, she has engaged 40 of her employees in volunteer service. This was her first time partnering with United Way and she can’t wait to bring another team to the next Day of Caring!
During June's Day of Action, Ball Corporation employeestackled several projects at an Elant Senior residence. They painted several rooms and tended to the gardens. “We are thrilled that Ball Corporation’s volunteers donated their time and effort to this project. Now, families visiting the residents here will have a wonderful space to sit and chat with fresh flowers,” said Elant Activities Director Heidi Williams.
Ball Corporation employees were incredibly enthusiastic to brighten local seniors’ day! Not only did Juella enjoy her day volunteering at Elant but so did her co-workers. “We really enjoy volunteering as a team, helping a local community nonprofit, and, in doing so, making the seniors at Elant happy,”she said.
In addition to volunteering at Elant, the Ball Corporationresident volunteer coordinator, Juella has volunteered at the Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen, preparing and serving meals, sorted through donated food items at the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and built homes with Habitat for Humanity. Juella also volunteers on her personal time at St. John AME Zion Church. She has endless energy to give back to her community! “I feel fortunate to help those in need in my community- it is my passion.”
Juella is truly an inspiration to all. She looks forward to participating in future UWDOR volunteer projects this fall.
