Meet Anthony

Meet Anthony Page Banner

Anthony, a resilient man in his late 20s, had bravely served his country, finding purpose and camaraderie in the military. However, upon returning to civilian life, the transition proved more challenging than he had anticipated. Battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Anthony struggled to reconcile the memories of his service with the demands of everyday life.

In a desperate attempt to regain control, Anthony sought a more affordable living situation. He found a less expensive apartment that would fit his budget. However, as he prepared to move, he realized he would need a moving truck that he could not afford. Fortunately, the landlord at his new apartment connected him with United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, and with their crisis funds, they were able to rent Anthony's moving truck.

"I owe a lot to United Way. They didn't just help me get the moving truck; they gave me a fresh start and made me believe in better days ahead."

United Way's help not only eased Anthony's immediate stress but also sparked a renewed sense of hope. Settling into his new, affordable apartment, he focused on finding employment. With perseverance and support, he secured a job, marking a turning point in his journey. Grateful for the assistance, Anthony faced the future with optimism and resilience, knowing he had the strength and community backing to overcome any challenges.
