Mark Villanti

Board Member

Mark Villanti has served as an educator for 40 years and a school superintendent for 17 years. He retired from The Haldane CSD in 2013 after seven years and taught graduate school for two years before being asked to serve as the superintendent for the Spackenkill Union Free School District (for four years). He retired again in 2020. Both Haldane and Spackenkill’s high schools achieved the US Education Department’s Blue-Ribbon status awarded in Washington DC. Dr. Villanti has also worked in public education as a guidance counselor, guidance director and high school principal.

Dr. Villanti has served as the chair of the Capital District Association of School District Administrators (CASDA) and the Mid-Hudson School Study Council. He served on the Board of the United Way of the Capital Region. He was also a member of the Business and Education Partnership of the Chamber of Schenectady county. In 2012 he was recognized as the Katie O’Donnell Award of Excellence by the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mark Villanti has lived in Dutchess county for all but six years of his adult life with his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth. His two children were born and raised in Rhinebeck, NY. He has resided in Poughkeepsie City for the last 13 years.
