United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is proud to partner with SingleCare to provide community members with access to affordable prescription medications. The card is completely free to use and there are no eligibility requirements. Users can save up to 80% on prescriptions at over 35,000 pharmacies, including CVS, Walgreens, and many more.
Financial stability for all
The United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is committed to improving financial assistance for ALICE and low-income individuals to alleviate short-term financial crises and increase local families' economic position, and to increasing annual earnings and workplace advancement of individuals and families.
A minor payment delay was all it took to throw Kevin's budget into crisis, leaving him with two months of back rent and the security of his home at risk. The crucial assistance provided by a United Way funded program was a lifeline that restored his financial footing. With the immediate crisis resolved, he was able to get back on track and is now working toward building a small emergency savings fund.
Kevin's story shows how a little help can prevent a small setback from becoming an insurmountable obstacle.
Our Initiatives
Crisis Fund
We work with partner agencies to offer one-time grants or direct financial assistance to help individuals facing various emergencies. This can include help with vital medications, bills and other urgent financial needs.
Essential Needs Supply Hub
The Hub is a central locations that collects, stores and distributes essential items to local organizations in need. This ensures that resources are efficiently allocated to those who require them most. Items typically include clothing, hygiene products, bedding and more.
Ride United leverages the strength of United Ways, the 211 network, and our partners to address the unmet transportation needs of individuals and families in the region. The program increases transportation access and reduces travel barriers to essential jobs, services, and more.
Through the CA$H Coalition Program, low and moderate-income residents recieve crucial support with free tax preparation. The program is designed to assist them in identifying and claiming every refund applicable to their personal tax situation.
Our Social Care Navigator connects eligible Medicaid members with enhanced local services. Medicaid members may qualify for free support in key social need areas such as nutrition support, housing services, transportation access, and assistance in identifying needs and making referrals.

Catholic Charities Community Services of Dutchess County
Financial Stability intervention programs by the CCCSDC help households avoid the trauma of eviction & the despair of financial pitfalls. They assist in the payment of rents and utilities while also addressing other immediate needs to avert crises. All requests for assistance are triaged by the Coordinator & ED & if appropriate are assigned a case manager by the latter.
Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster
Financial Stability program provides basic care coordination services that include rental assistance, utility assistance, and financial crisis intervention due to medical expenses, eviction, or homelessness. In order to assist vulnerable populations in achieving financial stability. As a result, helping children thrive and families become more engaged, contributing members of their community.
Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County
The Crisis Intervention and Case Management program provides emergency financial assistance for families faced with an economic crisis and case management support to help them navigate out of crisis and into stability. Struggling daily to meet basic needs (food, shelter, utilities, and health) low income families cannot absorb an unexpected expense, such as an auto repair.
Dutchess Outreach, Inc.
The Emergency Assistance Program works with families and individuals to overcome an emergency financial crisis, advocate when unfairly denied services or assistance elsewhere, refer to other agencies' and organizations' programs and services for additional support, and ultimately help people become self-sufficient.
Fearless! Hudson Valley
The Financial Assistance Program (FAP) supports survivors of victimization and abuse in accessing emergency financial awards in order to: reduce barriers created by the financial abuse perpetrated against them; support their economic empowerment; and increase their opportunities to gain safety, security and stability in long-lasting and meaningful ways.
Grace Smith House, Inc.
Meets Basic Needs is designed to help victims of domestic violence stabilize their lives by providing direct financial assistance to alleviate an impending financial crisis. The program also provides support and services needed to empower survivors and their children to move towards building a solid foundation of financial stability and independence from their abuser.
Hudson River Housing, Inc.
Housing Navigator provides emergency housing assistance to low-income households. The Housing Navigator works closely with households to help them develop housing stability plans tailored to their needs. The Navigator may assist them in applying for public benefits, connect them with employment opportunities, and/or refer them to childcare, health care, legal services, and other community resources.
Jewish Family Services
The Financial Empowerment Program offers one-time financial assistance to families and individuals experiencing a temporary financial setback. JFS helps with arrears in rent, utility bills, and auto-related expenses, as well as the security deposit required for a new apartment. Applications are reviewed by a committee based on documentation of the temporary circumstance and the applicant's ability to move forward after assistance has been provided.
Legal Services of the Hudson Valley
Income Stabilization and Homelessness Prevention provides legal assistance to individuals who have been incorrectly denied, or terminated from, public assistance programs, incl. TANF, SNAP/Food Stamps, WIC, Unemployment Insurance, Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, and Veterans Benefits; provides Emergency Cash Assistance - rental and utility arrears; handles Consumer Law cases. This stabilizes household incomes at a subsistence level.
