Matthew (Matt) Murphy is Associate Director of the Operations Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he has worked since 2011. In this role, he partners with colleagues across shifts and time zones to oversee the firm’s 24/7 document processing, off-hours paralegal, and reprographics support services. Before pivoting into legal management, Matt spent six years as a professional actor and theater producer—a background that continues to shape his collaborative and empathic leadership style.
He recently completed a seven-year term on the Lawrence University Alumni Association Board of Directors, including three years as president. Closer to home, he volunteers with Common Ground Farm as a member of the Beacon Farmers’ Market Committee and has served on the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s Community Impact Council. Matt holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees from Lawrence University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives in Beacon with his husband, Edward.
