Sharon McGinnis
Chief Human Resources Officer, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.
Poughkeepsie
I have been with Central Hudson, a gas and electric transmission and distribution company that serves more than 400,000 customers in the Hudson Valley, for over 16 years. We have more than 1,250 hard-working and dedicated employees, most of whom live in the communities we serve. Our workforce supports the residents and businesses throughout the Hudson Valley by providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy, but they also give back to our communities both financially and through volunteerism.
Favorite career moment?
In 2014, a snowstorm hit on Thanksgiving. The CH workforce showed up so we could restore power, and our customers could spend time with their families.
Best advice for women starting careers?
When a woman embraces who she truly is, she not only empowers herself but also inspires others to do the same.
What do you love about working in the HV?
The people: our employees, our customers, and our communities. And it is one of the most beautiful regions in the country.
Go-to after-hours activities?
I enjoy taking full advantage of what the region has to offer: hiking, biking, live music at breweries or wineries. And poker is my guilty pleasure.
