Third Annual Women United Elevates Women to leadership

Dutchess & Orange Counties - On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region in collaboration with Workforce Investment Board, hosted their third annual Women United Elevate Leadership Conference at the FDR Presidential Library in Hyde Park, NY.

The event commenced at 9:00 AM with a welcome from Melissa Clark, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region's Vice President of Community Impact. Melissa introduced Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and UWDOR President & CEO, Jeannie Montano. It was an inspiring day of connection and growth, exploring the diverse journeys of nine remarkable women leaders, and discovering the pivotal moments and hard-earned wisdom that shaped their paths. Over 100 women who attended enjoyed connecting with a community of women who were ready to empower each other.

Michelle Taylor of Neversink Media brought a spark to the event as the emcee. Louise McLoughlin, Filomena Fanelli, and Sharon McGinnis each shared the importance of mentorship and emphasized the importance of women supporting each other, overcoming challenges like "Imposter Syndrome," and balancing work and personal life.

Christian Jones highlighted the need for authentic leadership and giving back to the community, while Theresa Daly spoke on the importance of fostering strong friendships. Judge Tracey MacKenzie discussed the challenges faced by children and families, and Colleen Edwards shared insights on emergency preparedness and the importance of self-care. Mariel Fiori spoke about her journey and the role of Spanish-language media. Erin Cafarelli shared how her involvement with Leadership Dutchess had given her the courage and tools to meet the challenges of changing careers. The conference concluded with a focus on self-belief “Giving yourself grace” and overcoming imposter syndrome.
